New Year Japanese style

Well, New Year's Eve was to become nice and it became nice! My first New Year's in Japanese style including a nice nihonshoku - dinner and the traditional toshikoshi-soba which is said to extend one's lifespan. It was definitely one of the quietest New Year's Eves I've ever spent but that really didn't matter.
The nice arrangement on the photo is what we ate on oshougatsu - New Year's Day. Sushi and miso soup presented on decorative Japan-paper and with really fine ohashi - chopsticks. After we ha
d our meal we went on to round two of the Liverpool sightseeing trip and finished it off with a nice walk along the Mersey, starting at the Albert Dock...And today she had to fly back to Japan already, which means that my world is switching back to good old English now after five days exclusively in Japanese...
