Since I got my little self-learner Chinese course sent over from Austria and got it yesterday, today I started with lesson 1 which also deals with the task of introducing oneself. Unlike Japanese, Chinese has no syllabic characters with which one could transcribe one's own name, so foreigners need to choose a name in Chinese characters, usually a name that's as similar as possible to one's original name and follows the Chinese rule of one character for the surname and two for the name.
I chose a name today. It's 麦本鹤。
